Women, Action & the Media
21 03 2008Next weekend I’ll be heading to Boston for the Women, Action & the Media conference. Lisa Factora-Borchers, Sydette Harry, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, and I will be presenting We B(e)lo(n)g: Womyn of Color and Online Feminism.
Roll call, who’s going? I want to meet all the Arab women who will be there.
I’m especially looking forward to Helen Thomas’ and Haifa Zangana’s keynote. These are the sessions I’m most interested in:
Immigration in the U.S.: The Women’s Rights Crisis Feminists Aren’t Talking About (Tara Tidwell Cullen, Carly Burton, Brownfemipower, Irina Contreras)
Media, Technology & Social Justice: Preparing for and Shaping the Future (Marie Celestin, Yawu Miller, Cara Lisa Powers, Aliza Dichter)
Resisting Walls and Bars: Amplifying Voices From Death Row and the Prison Industrial Complex (Alice Kim, Barbara Becnel)
Conscious Women Rock the Page: Using Hip Hop Fiction to Incite Feminist Action (Elisha Miranda, Jennifer Calderon, Sofia Quintero, Marcella Runell-Hall)
And of course, the Women of Color Bloggers Caucus (which inspired me to begin blogging in the first place when I participated at the ‘06 AMC). Can’t wait for that =)
Update: And the QWOC+ Boston party, psyched for that too!
Also I will be at the Speed-Networking thing on Friday, representing for the AMC! Hurry up and get your session proposal in today and don’t forget to register early!

Ooh, you better be blogging about this afterwards!!!!!!!
I’m especially interested in your impression of the Walls and Bars session.
I can’t wait to hear/read all about it!
Hey Nadia, I’ll be there too, along with Wendi and Latoya from Racialicious. I’d love to meet up!
